Standin' on a Corner

"Hey Cowboy...come here often?"
 Oh, Ken!

Now how did Ken get here?

I should have guessed.

We took a detour off of Route 66 to follow the Turquoise Trail National Scenic Byway.

Another of our favorite movies is Wild Hogs.

Some of the movie was filmed in the town of Madrid which is on the Turquoise Trail.

Of course we had to stop there!

One of the main sets in the movie was Maggie's Diner. It was built for the movie. It is now a Wild Hogs gift shop.

Casa Grande Trading Post and Cerrillos Turquoise Mining Museum.

We had a great visit with Patricia.

We loved the museum, rock, and jewelry shop.

Back on Route 66.

You have to love a town named Tucumcari!

We met the family that owns the Blue Swallow Motel. Keven took time from his busy day telling us the history of the motel and the restoration that they are continuing on this historic route 66 icon.

This is what can happen when your town is bypassed by the interstate.

Glenrio is a ghost town that straddles the state line of Texas and New Mexico.

To be continued...
